Antique 19th Century Silver Plated York Rose Bowl By James Duncan
Details
Antique Victorian bowl by Atkin Brothers for James Duncan, a Paisley based jeweller active circa 1880-1930. This classic silver plated Regency style York rose shaped bon bon dish features fluted petals that create a scalloped rim and an elegant a footed base, with both James Duncan's makers engraving alongside the tri-feather plume, the symbol of premier British silversmiths Atkin Brothers (1824 - 1940) on the base, signifying they were the creators of the piece at the request of James Duncan as the retailer, a customary practise in the Victorian era. This piece would look particularly chic styled as a centrepiece on a coffee or dressing table in a mid century modern, minimalist, English heritage, Hollywood regency, cottage farmhouse or vintage eclectic interior scheme.
In great condition for a piece from this period, showing signs of wear such as scratches and small tarnish spots consistent with the age and use of silver decor objects.
