Antique 19th century miniature portrait of Crown Prince Christian Frederick of Denmark (1786-1848), who would later go on to become King Christian VIII Of Denmark in 1839 and spent a brief reign as King of Norway in 1814, depicting the young Prince dressed in traditional military regalia in front of a grand palatial setting. Created in the mid 1800s and framed in solid walnut with a gold toned brass bezel embellishment, this small Gouache painting is in the style of Christian Hornemann, who painted the original artwork, and is signed by an unknown artist.

In exceptional condition for a piece from this period with only surface wear to the frame such as scratches visible, the painting itself has not been inspected outside the frame but appears in pristine condition.
