Antique green marble box by silversmith Henry Griffiths & Sons. Featuring the famed English designers maker's mark on the brass inner hinge which dates the piece to between 1893 - 1899 (source: https://www.silvermakersmarks.co.uk) this rare antique rectangular piece was originally designed as a cigarette holder but can also be used as a stylish trinket or jewellery box. Made using finely hand carved solid Italian green marble with elements of brown and pale blue throughout, similar in pattern to onyx or jade, this highly collectable and truly exquisite example of Victorian era craftsmanship would be a beautiful addition to classic, mid century modern or contemporary home decor schemes.
