Design

Capturing the essence of 1970s mid-century modern design, this sconce is the perfectly blends form, function, and artistry to bring a touch of vintage eclecticism to any space. Murano glass exudes a soft, diffused glow when illuminated, showcasing Mazzega's unparalleled expertise in glass making. Its irregular texture gives the piece a contemporary, brutalist edge whilst the alternating stripes embody the quintessential colour palette of the era, elevating any interior scheme with its distinctive retro charm.

Founded by Angelo Vittorio Mazzega in Murano, Italy in 1946, Mazzega holds a venerated reputation within the glass working field. Known for their masterful techniques, stylistic output and collaborations with world renowned designers, Mazzega continues to create highly sought after pieces to this day, proving themselves to be leaders of the centuries old Venetian industry.

Born in 1935, Carlo Nason began his career in the 1960s by creating designs for the family glass factory V. Nason & C, one of the oldest and most well established families of glassmakers in Murano, which led to his celebrated collaboration with Mazzega between 1965 and 1980. A collaboration that produced some of the companies most successful designs, pieces of which now exhibit within the Corning Museum of Glass, New York.

Manufactured in Italy, this piece is in working order and is in excellent condition with no chips or damages.

The item requires an E27 bulb and can be either hardwired or used with an appropriate rechargeable smart bulb.
